South Korea's Standard Publishing Contracts and Adaptation Rights   2019.08.05   The establishment of standard contracts by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism   Following the 'Cloud Bread Incident1)' of 2014, authorities in South Korea began mulling over fundamental issues regarding the working conditions of South Korean content creators. After this incident, the culture ministry created and distributed seven standard contracts for publishing after discussions with rights holders and publishers. Korean Translator   Hyeon Jeong Lee   2024.01.02   PROFILE   Hyeon Jeong Lee (she/her) is a freelance translator based in Champaign, Illinois, USA. She studied English Literature at Seoul National University and received her PhD in English at the University at Buffalo, USA. She was awarded a translation grant from the Literature Translation Institute of Korea for her English translation of Uhye Song’s White Bird, which she co-translated with Cynthia M. Childs. Lee also co-translated Sung-hee Yoon’s short story “The Duty of Loneliness” with Childs and published it in the Tammy Journal. Currently, she is writing a Korean-American history textbook with members of the Midwest Korean School Association. Eight titles and publishers were honored in the grand prize, special prize, and rookie prize categories for fiction and nonfiction.
